<p>Masina lansata in premiera acum 6 ani, nu era planificata sa intre in productie decat in 2012 cand cei de la Volswagen preconizau ca pretul de productie va scade in musura in care masina sa fie viabila economic. In 2002 producatorii declarau ca masina va intra in productie atunci cand costul de productie va scade de la 35.000 EUR, cat era la acel moment la aprox 5000 EUR, lucru preconizat ca se va intampla in 2012. Costul mare de productie e dat in cea mai mare parte datorita caroseriei din fibra de carbon. Se pare insa ca pretul a scazut deja destul de mult incat sal epermita celor de la Volswagen sa produca cateva sute de masini pana in 2010.</p>

De fapt nu am fost chiar exact &#8211; Peel 50 nu este chiar cea mai mica masina din lume &#8211; e doar cea mai mica masina ce poate fi condusa. Recordul propriu-zis il detine o masina care are doar 4 nanometri si a fost construita de catre oameni de stiinta intr-o molecula din sfere de carbon pur formate fiecare din cate 60 de atomi. Comparativ, un fir de par are o grosime de 80000 nanometri.</p>
